What is Missions? To the believer missions means carrying the gospel message to those who have not heard it and trying to win them to Christ especially through a group of selected workers called missionaries, both men and women, and establishing the Church where it has not been established. In simple terms, Missions mean reaching the unreached with the Gospel.
Who We Are: The Oklahoma Southeast Missions Department seeks to be a relevant, accessible provider of resources providing relief to the state of Oklahoma and the outlying communities which our churches service. Whether in Oklahoma City or Pocola, Oklahoma, the OKSE Missions Department, led by Dr. Jerry Graham, takes on the mission of the International Missions Department as follows:
The Mission of Missions:
- To educate, train, and develop preachers and missionaries in all aspects of missions work.
- To continue the progression of the preaching of the gospel in foreign countries, especially in areas where there are no missionaries and areas where sound doctrine is not being preached.
- To assist in the completion of the existing building and expansion projects currently underway. In the Jurisdiction specifically, our attention is turned towards providing relief for poor urban and rural communities in the state of Oklahoma and surrounding areas and building water wells throughout the continent of Africa– our Faith for 500 initiative.
- To provide better financial assistance in areas where there is severe economic hardship.
- To promote home missions by encouraging the local church to do the following:
- a) Engage in activities to build/restore the family unit
- b) Engage in missions and development of the community
- c) Engage in active street, prison, and nursing home ministries
- d) Commit to the financial support of the National Missions Department
How Do I Get Involved? Great question! On the second Saturday of every month at 10:00am, the Jurisdiction gathers for worker recruitment and training. Join the Missions Department as they tackle the issues of individuals suffering domestically and abroad. If that’s too far away, go to the Contact Us page or find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/OKSECOGIC and message us directly for further information.
